Frequently Asked Questions
Listed below are the most frequently asked questions we've collated over the years which cover a range of different topics all related to the club. If we can't answer your questions here then either email them to info@rccgb.co.uk where we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have!
How much does it cost, and how do I join?
The membership cost for the membership year (Feb 2025-Jan 2026) is £16. Full details are on the Join page.
Is there a club magazine?
Yes there is. A monthly e-magazine called AIRtime ONline is sent out to all members and is included in your membership fee.
Are there any age restrictions as to who can join?
No. Members are invited from all ages although it is recommended that a family member or guardian accompanies younger members on trips. If in doubt about the suitability for younger members then please get in touch with us via the postal address or email addresses on the Contact page.
What is / Where is my membership number?
Your membership number is issued to you when you join the club. It will be advised in your welcome letter. From 2020 you will have received a members handbook and inside is space to write your membership number down on the third from last page, so write it there. Also, write it on the back of your membership card each year. (You can also find your membership on any post you receive from the club).
The 'LEAD' member will be allocated a number. The membership numbers of any family members will be the same with an addition letter after, A, B, C, D etc.
So for example, if you are the lead member, your membership number may be 5541. If you have any additional family members, their number will be 5541A, 5541B, etc. Please use your membership number whenever you contact the club.

How many club trips do we have per year?
At least 4, plus extra mini-trips and/or days out (There were 8 club trips in 2010!). There is also a bi-annual two week trip to the USA. The 4 regular UK trips are the Famous Blackpool Bash (April), Summer Bash (July), Mega-Glow-Mania (August) and Loopathon (October). Use the Trips menu above to see this year's line up, and also visit the archives for trips we've had in previous years.
I don't know anybody, won't I be lonely?
No! The key element of Club is to unite enthusiasts. On a trip everyone knows why we are there so the ice is already broken. This means that the fun starts from the moment you arrive! In fact within minutes you'll feel like you know everyone! Don't worry, everybody on each club trip has one major passion - roller coasters. It wont be long before you make new friends and everybody makes you feel welcome. We have some pictures of the clubs officers who will be pleased to answer any questions on your first trip, have a look at our Meet the Crew page, so you know who we are!
Are there any non-coaster related trips?
Yes, there is an annual winter Ski-ing trip organised to keep you occupied during the winter months. Details of this are published in AIRtime ONline.
What do I do during the winter?
Your membership lasts one year (February to January) during which time you will receive your copies of AIRtime ONline. The Club also occasionally organises non-coaster related events during the closed season.
I like that T-Shirt! Where can I buy one like it?
Club merchandise is usually on sale at the larger Club trips. These are the Blackpool Bash in Spring and WOODathon in the Autumn. Sorry, but we do not offer online facilities to purchase club merchandise.
Can I gain discounted entry into parks?
We aim to provide members with special offers and concessions which vary throughout the year and details are either published on the club website, sent to members or published in AIRtime ONline. These offers are for members only. Any abuse could lead to the offer being withdrawn by the attraction, or revocation of your club membership.
What happens on a club trip?
The itinerary varies according to the trip. Most have at least one ERS on the park's main or new coaster. Some have luncheons or BBQ's. There are also themed events, the Coaster Crazy Gameshow and other member events depending on which trip it is. Details of each trip are available from the Trips link above.
What does ERS stand for?
Exclusive Ride Session (a private ride session i.e. No members of the public). The Club generally has at least one ERS (normally lasting one hour) on every trip. (In the USA this is known as ERT - Exclusive Ride Time)
How can I help parks?
By completing the annual Club survey you will be directly helping the parks. By providing information we can help parks by informing them what rides and attractions are preferred and those disliked, etc. Andy Hine is often involved with new attractions at parks and can use the survey results to help persuade parks to get the right new attraction.
Also, try to visit as many parks as you can sensibly afford to, taking advantage of our discounts/offers where available each year. All parks need support, and simply by visiting them will help!

How do I know when to re-join?
As your membership runs yearly you will be advised that it's renewal time in January.
What happens if I join mid-year?
As well as being sent your membership card which entitles you to take advantage of the club discounts/offers, you will be sent links to all back issues of AIRtime ONline relating to that membership year. You will also receive all the invitations for the remaining Club trips.
I don't know where a park is or where to stay.
With every trip itinerary you will receive a map or guide to locate the park and usually a list of local Hotels and Guest houses. These are a guide only and are not endorsed by the Club. We live in modern times, just 'google it' and you can usually find what you're looking for!
What happens if I cancel on a club trip after paying my money?
No refunds can be made for non-attendance. Sorry.
Who is Nev? I keep hearing people talking about Nev!
