Summer Bash 2018
This is normally a small 'meet-at-the-park' type event where over 50 coaster crazy people simply turn up and have fun. The destination for this trip is unknown at the moment. During lunch at Loopathon 2017, Nev asked people where they would like to go and many suggestions were called out, so watch this space as we move into the new coaster season in 2018.
Dates: Friday 10th thru Sunday 12th August 2018
Location: Oakwood Theme Park, Pembrokeshire, UK
“Pren yn dda?” Or in English “Wood is good!” Yes it's time to head to Wales for some Mega-Tastic fun over an action packed three days! On the Friday we visit Folly Farm, Saturday it is the main event at Oakwood and on Sunday the annual Go-Kart challenge at Hetherton's.
Friday 10th August – Folly Farm, Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire (5 miles from Oakwood)
Getting more popular each year, this wonderful park is situated just 5 miles from Oakwood and is a combination park, featuring a farm, a zoo and of interest to us, a vintage funfair featuring many classic rides such as Waltzers, Dodgems, Ghost Train, Skid, Caterpillar, Giant Wheel and loads more. Folly Farm has won Wales’ “Top Paid-For Tourist Attraction” and also The Welsh Tourist Board “Best Day Out in Wales.” For full details of the park check out www.folly-farm.co.uk
You can enter Folly Farm anytime from 10:30 where you can then enjoy the Park at your leisure before meeting in the vintage fun fair at 17:30 for a 2 hour exclusive ‘fair’ session (EFS). You will also enjoy an evening meal (basket meal: Fish & Chips, Sausage & Chips, Pasta Bolognese or Pasta Tomato & Basil + drink – advise below). The cost for Folly Farm is just £25.00 and that includes park entry, exclusive fair session (EFS) and evening meal.
Saturday 11th August – Oakwood, Narberth, Pembrokeshire
The main event and of course it involves woooood! Starting at 09:00 you will enjoy a one hour exclusive ride session (ERS) on the UK’s number one woodie Megafobia. This is followed by an optional ‘TreeToppers’ takeover, then freetime, where you can explore the whole park including the fantastic Neverland area. After this you can stay in in the Park or maybe pop back to your B&B/camp site for a rest. Then following their massive firework display, at 22:00 our grand finale: Mega-GLOW-Mania!
A full, one hour, party ERS! And as it will be properly dark, please bring anything that flashes
or glows (nothing too big though – remember safety first) and we will then create our very own lightshow on Megafobia as it flies round the track to a special one hour party mix! A fabulous way to end a wonderful day and many members agree this is one of the best ERS’s you will ever experience! If you’ve never done one before you won’t want to miss it.
Sunday 12th August - HEATHERTON (Including Go-Karting)
Make your Mega-GLOW-Mania weekend even more fun by adding a visit to Heatherton (9 miles from Oakwood).
On Sunday 12th August I have arranged a special deal at Heatherton, St Florence, Pembrokeshire. Just show your trip badge and/or membership card and get 15% off the token package (£15.00). Heatherton is packed with activities, like clay pigeon shooting, archery, mazes, crazy golf, tree tops trail, etc., so check out their website (www.heatherton.co.uk) for more details.
Dates: Saturday & Sunday 6th/7th October 2018 (TBC)
Location: Alton Towers & Drayton Manor, UK
Yes it’s our annual loopy weekend where will spend Saturday at Alton Towers and Sunday at Drayton Manor.
Details of the trip will be available nearer the time, but this year, we have the fabulous new woodie at Alton Towers to ride! After 20 years of campaigning to Alton Towers, they have finally done it! This will make this one of the best Loopathon's ever - riding a real wooden coaster at Alton Towers (so we've renamed the trip Woodathon!) - what a great way to celebrate the clubs 30th Anniversary!
More details will be provided when known.
